Celtic’s scouts have discussed Sydney van Hooijdonk, who is surplus to requirements at Italian side Bologna, according to Football Scotland.

Brendan Rodgers wants to add to his squad this month and has already raided Rapid Vienna for Nicolas Kuhn.

The Celtic boss is keen for more attacking bite and Bologna attacker Van Hooijdonk has been linked with a switch to Parkhead.

The attacker is surplus to requirements at Bologna, who are looking to either sell him or loan him with an obligation to buy.

Celtic are aware of Van Hooijdonk and he has been discussed between the scouts at the Glasgow club.

However, Celtic have not moved their interest beyond that at present.

Whether the Bhoys would be interested in signing Van Hooijdonk on a permanent basis is unclear, but they have time left in the transfer window to make up their mind.

Van Hooijdonk, who was capped by the Netherlands at Under-21 level earlier in his career, came through the youth system at Dutch club NAC Breda.
