Marseille are still deliberating over whether to try and sign Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares on loan or make a move for Nantes’ Quentin Merlin.

The French giants are in the market to bring in a left-back before the window closes next Wednesday.

Marseille scoured the market for options and have narrowed down their shortlist to two names in the final week of the window.

Tavares, who has played very little at Nottingham Forest this season, is a target and Marseille also have their eyes on Merlin.

According to the French sports daily L’Equipe, Marseille are still 50-50 on which player they want to sign before Wednesday’s deadline.

Arsenal are prepared to cut short Tavares’ loan at Nottingham Forest if they can find a taker for him in the coming days.

The Portuguese is also keen to play more football and would be open to returning to Marseille on loan from the Gunners.

However, Merin very much remains an option and he has admirers inside Marseille’s hierarchy.
