Tottenham Hotspur will not receive an approach from Middlesbrough for Will Lankshear yet, with the attacker not a priority for the Championship club now, according to Teesside Live.

Young Spurs striker Lankshear is expected to be the subject of much attention this summer as sides look to land him on loan.

He scored 22 goals in 24 games for Tottenham’s Under-21s side this term and Middlesbrough are amongst the clubs to have scouted him.

It had been suggested that Boro want to snap Lankshear up, but the Championship club’s interest is not that advanced.

Lankshear is on a shortlist of options for Middlesbrough, but the side have not made him a priority and will assess all their options before deciding what to do.

Tottenham signed Lankshear from Sheffield United for around £2m and have high hopes for him.

He has not featured in any matchday squads for the senior team yet as Tottenham carefully plot how to nurture him.

Lankshear did get a taste of playing against senior sides this term though when he played in the EFL Trophy and came up against Colchester United, Peterborough United and Cambridge United.

He scored twice in the three encounters.
