Nottingham Forest managerial target Vincenzo Italiano would prefer to stay in Italy, where Napoli are interested in him, in a blow for the Tricky Trees.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s future at Nottingham Forest is in the balance despite managing to survive in the Premier League this season.

A decision on Nuno’s future at the club is likely to be taken soon but the club are already looking at potential replacements.

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Mariankis is a fan of Fiorentina coach Italiano and is keen to take him to the City Ground.

Italiano is expected to leave Fiorentina this summer, but according to Italian outlet Arenanapoli.it, his future is likely to be in Italy.

It has been claimed that the 46-year-old Italian would prefer to stay in Serie A over moving outside Italy.

Napoli are interested in signing him and he would prefer a move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona over interest from Nottingham Forest.

It remains to be seen whether Nottingham Forest try to convince Italiano to change his mind if they sack Nuno in the coming days.
