Sunderland’s number one managerial target Will Still will go to the club that offer him the best package, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Black Cats have been hunting for a new boss, but the picture had appeared to become a little clearer earlier this week.

Still is wanted by French top flight side Lens and it appeared he was heading there, while Sunderland were tipped to have an agreement with ex-Young Boys coach Raphael Wicky.

However, Still is claimed to be Sunderland’s top target and is still in with a chance of the job at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland want Still, but the manager is also wanted by Lens and will join whichever club give him the best package.

Still has a top agent working on his behalf and who is talking to both clubs to get the very best deal for his client.

Sunderland and Lens are now both locked in a battle for Still.

The 31-year-old caught the eye with his work at French side Reims, but a poor run of results towards the end of the season saw him part ways with the club.
