Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor has insisted that a player’s hunger to win and improve is a quality the Gas have focused on this summer while doing transfer business.
The Gas’ are keen on securing promotion to the Championship this season and they have backed Taylor in the transfer market to strengthen their squad.
The Bristol Rovers boss has brought in a host of new faces emphasising on bringing in young and talented players.
Taylor pointed out that they have gone after a certain profile of players and revealed that the club think they have been able to recruit good players this summer.
He also revealed that they have primarily focused on recruiting players who have the hunger to improve and stated that recruitment has been based on the short term and long term goals of the club.
“We could sit here and speak for hours about the number of players who’ve passed us by or gone elsewhere, which we totally understand and we accept”, Taylor told Bristol Rovers’ in house media.
“But the general feeling has been that we’ve brought in good people.
“We’ve brought in players with a certain age and profile, who are going to benefit the club for the long term as much as the short term, and who want to really succeed and need to succeed at this football club.
“The hunger aspect probably trumps all.
“For myself, for my staff and the players we’ve now got.”
Bristol Rovers are ninth in the league table with seven points from four games and they are currently two points off from the last playoff spot.
