Aston Villa could only manage a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton at the weekend, but manager Martin O’Neill was still full of praise of Ashley Young, who he felt was once again the standout performer.
“I think he has been great – but not just against Wolves,” O’Neill said on the club’s official website. “That was a wonderful performance by him but he is the one that drove us on brilliantly against Reading in the second half and he and James [Milner] have been exceptional the last few months.”
Carew salvaged a draw for Villa with a brace, but O’Neill believes it was Young who rallied the team back with his clever wing play and spot on deliveries into the box. The 24-year-old has made 13 assists already this season, just one shy of his total in the last campaign.
