Liverpool have joined Bayern Munich and Inter in tracking Romanian defender Florin Gardos, who currently turns out for Steaua Bucharest.
The 22-year-old has progressed quickly since joining Steaua last summer and the Bucharest-based club could be set for a quick profit on the player. Gardos, who can operate both in central defence and as a defensive midfielder, looks set to have the choice of a move to the Premier League, Serie A or the Bundesliga, providing all three can agree terms with Steaua.
Labelled the ‘new Christian Chivu’ in some quarters, Steaua will be reluctant to lose a player they only tempted to the Ghencea Stadium from Concordia Chiajna just last year, and with Gardos under contract with the Romanian side until 2015, they remain very much in the driving seat over his future.
Nevertheless, incoming bids from the trio of European giants should prove hard to resists and Gardos, who made his senior debut for Romania only this year, is sure to be attracted to the prospect of a switch.
