Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be lining up swoops for Fulham striker Clint Dempsey and Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra.

The pair have come to the attention of the capital club as solid reinforcements for their squad, a squad which will need boosting in the event Champions League football is secured. At present PSG sit ahead of Lyon in the all-important third spot in Ligue 1 and, should they be able to hold onto their position, will be in Europe’s showpiece event next season.

Dempsey is considered a reliable performer who can bring goals combined with a tireless attitude to PSG’s frontline. The American is a player Fulham would not want to part with, however the French side think a bid of around €9M could be enough to persuade Cottagers’ boss Mark Hughes to sell the 28-year-old.

Rangers’ defender Bougherra meanwhile is keen to leave Ibrox this summer and, with just one year remaining on his present deal, looks set to be sold by the Scottish side. The 28-year-old however has a preference for a switch to England, though he does have experience of French football having begun his career in the country with Gueugnon.

Paris Saint-Germain will surely prove an attractive option for both players, as with or without Champions League football the club are expected to challenge for the Ligue 1 title next season.
