Feyenoord have admitted that a summer move for Luc Castaignos looks to be off the agenda after the striker’s side Inter indicated a preference for selling the Dutchman.
The Rotterdam giants had hoped to be able to loan Castaignos, a player they saw leave De Kuip for Inter last summer, for the entire 2012/13 campaign.
Inter had initially been keen to keep the 19-year-old and simply loan him out for regular first team football next season; however, the train of thinking at the Nerazzurri seems to have changed.
“This we sort of expected. Inter took a very long time [to get back to us]”, said Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel to RTV Rijnmond.
“They want to sell Luc rather than loan him.
“Inter even have a price in mind that is even more than we sold him for.
“For Feyenoord it is absolutely impossible.”
Feyenoord will now turn their attention elsewhere as they seek to add at least one more striker to their squad over the summer.
