Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath has paved the way for Danish defender Simon Kjaer to leave the Volkswagen Arena.
Kjaer spent last season on loan with Roma in Serie A, though the Giallorossi have not pushed through a deal to take him on a permanent basis.
And so the former Palermo man is due back in Germany, despite the fact that he struggled to get to grips with the game in the Bundesliga and has looked far more accomplished in Serie A.
French side Lille have been keen on the 23-year-old, but were scared off by Wolfsburg’s demand for €6M.
Less may be accepted though, with Magath admitting openly that Kjaer is not part of his plans and that the centre back wishes to depart.
"Kjaer wants to leave and he is not part of my plans", said Magath.
"If he finds a club, we will not keep him", he added.
