Liverpool midfielder Lucas has expressed his delight at making a return to action for the Reds following a long injury lay-off.
Lucas made his comeback in Liverpool’s 1-1 friendly draw against MLS outfit Toronto FC on Saturday as part of the Merseyside club’s North American tour.
It was a special moment for the midfielder, especially considering he had been out of action since November 2011, when he picked up a serious knee injury.
Now Lucas is working hard to be fit for the new season and getting minutes under his belt against Toronto was welcome.
“Very happy to be back playing in a red shirt”, the Brazilian wrote on his Twitter account.
“Thank you for your support again”, he told his fans.
“I will keep working hard to improve and [get] back to my best.”
Lucas is seen as a key man in Liverpool’s midfield and new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to be able to call upon the Brazilian throughout the 2012/13 campaign.
