Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne has completed a one-year loan move to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen after returning from the Blues’ US pre-season trip.

The Belgian international had signed for the reigning Champions League winners in January, but was loaned out to his previous club Genk the very same day to help him gain crucial game time.

And as Chelsea are already stocked with a number of options in midfield, including the likes of Marko Marin, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard and Juan Mata, the club management have decided to allow the player to gain more experience by loaning him out to the Green Whites.

Werder and Chelsea established a good working relationship during the transfer of German prodigy Marin and the friendly contact paved the way for the Germans to get their hands on the Belgian.

The loan does not have a permanent option and thus it is expected that the 21-year-old will be back at Stamford Bridge next season if he continually impresses at Werserstadion.

The young Belgian put pen to paper on Monday evening and after all the formalities were completed; the deal was announced today by the Premier League giants.
