Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he does want to win the Champions League, but considers it more important that Paris Saint-Germain dominate France first.

Despite picking up a hatful of league winners medals from Holland, Italy and Spain, Ibrahimovic has never won the Champions League, with two of his particular moves – to Barcelona in 2009 and then AC Milan in 2010 – taking him away from the next season’s winners (Inter and Barcelona).

Now at 30 years old, time is running out for the powerful striker to realise his dream, although he is hopeful that the "super team" being constructed at PSG can help him to end his personal drought.

"Attention, attention, I want to win the Champions League", Ibrahimovic told French sports daily L’Equipe.

"But let’s take things game by game, step by step.

"To me it seems that I should not necessarily focus on the Champions League.

"The most important thing is that the capital win the title and dominate.

"When you sit on top in your own country you can think about exporting your success to Europe."

PSG are desperate to win this season’s Ligue 1 after being beaten to the line last year by Montpellier. Carlo Ancelotti’s men currently sit fourth in the French top flight.
