Montpellier may be willing to sign QPR striker Djibril Cisse, the club’s president has admitted, while leaving the final decision up to his coach Jean Fernandez.

Cisse moved to Qatari side Al Gharafa on loan from QPR in January, heading to the Middle East until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old still has one year left on his contract at Loftus Road, however following the Rs’ relegation, Cisse will no doubt be keen to consider his options.

And the chance to return to France with Montpellier may be presented to him.

"It would be a big gamble", president Louis Nicollin told French radio station RMC when asked about a move for Cisse.

"It is the coach who will decide, not me.

"I’ll leave that to the people I pay."
