Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Spain Under-21 star Isco on a five-year deal, ending speculation of a possible move to Manchester City.

Isco had confirmed earlier this month he had a choice between either Real Madrid or the club to which his Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini went in the summer.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez had only today revealed Isco’s medical would happen in the next few days, with a presentation set for next week.

And it appears the Spanish side have moved to shut out all rumours around the talented midfielder by confirming the signing today itself, but no fee has been reported yet.

The club said via their official Twitter feed: "Real Madrid C.F. & Malaga C. F. have reached an agreement for the transfer of Isco, who will play for Los Blancos for the next five seasons."

And a statement on their site added: "[Real Madrid] have signed one of the biggest young talents in European football and this comes after he won the European Under-21 Championship with Spain.

"Imagination and speed are some of the qualities that define this midfielder, who became champion with Spain at the Euro Under-21 tournament and, at age 21, has already debuted with the senior team.

"Talent is the best word that defines him and he is a player with enviable technical quality, nerve and imagination. Isco joins Real Madrid where his talents towards the team’s cause will be directed by the Carlo Ancelotti project."

Isco was instrumental in Malaga achieving a historic quarter-final finish in the Champions League, with three goals in eight games, while he scored nine times in La Liga as well.

The signing means Real Madrid have beaten off competition not only from Manchester City, but also from Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
