Nicklas Bendtner has expressed his displeasure with his last season at Arsenal and believes he lost a year of his career with the Gunners.

Bendtner joined Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg on a free transfer earlier this summer after Arsenal decided to release the Danish international following the expiry of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Dane spent the 2012/13 season on loan to Italian champions Juventus, although he struggled to force his way into the side, making just nine Serie A appearances, and was then injured. Nevertheless, Bendtner claims that he had a great time in Italy and wanted to stay in Turin.

“I was loaned to Juventus”, Bendtner told Bild.

“It went well there and I played regularly but then I got injured and had to miss six months.”

“We were the champions and I wanted to stay.”

Bendtner feels that he wasted a year after coming back to Arsenal for the 2013/14 season, where he made only one league start in the entire campaign.

“However, Arsenal took me back.

“I lost a year there and that annoys me the most."

The 26-year-old scored 47 goals for Arsenal in 171 games, but is yet to open his account for Wolfsburg in his first two appearances.
