Neil Redfearn says he cannot allow off the pitch happenings concerning Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino to affect his work at Elland Road.

Cellino, who had owned Leeds and been the club's president until recently, has stepped down from his role and sold his shareholding to comply with a Football League ban. His family still retain 75 per cent of Leeds and he is expected to return.

But it was confirmed earlier this week that he will not be back when the ban expires in April and will instead be fighting the Football League in a private capacity, to clear the road for a return to the club in the longer term.

Redfearn has a good relationship with Cellino and has admitted missing holding football conversations with the Italian businessman.

But he cannot let Cellino's absence affect him or, by extension, the players.

"I can't let it [affect my day to day work]", he told a press conference.

"I just think it's an announcement from the powers that be. I can't affect it either way. I can only affect what I can affect, which is the football.

"I want to put the club on a good footing. I want us in a better position. I want us to be vibrant and talk about the right things, the football things."

Redfearn has led Leeds to ten points above the relegation zone in the Championship and will be aiming to put even more daylight between the Whites and those sides in trouble when Watford visit Elland Road on Saturday.
