De Boer knows Blind well from his time as Ajax boss and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Inter are weighing up making a move for the Netherlands international.

Blind left Ajax for Manchester United in 2014 following the appointment of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

However, following the sacking of Van Gaal at the end of last season and the appointment of Jose Mourinho as his successor, it is not clear how central Blind is to the club's plans.

Inter could choose to test Manchester United's resolve to keep Blind by submitting an enquiry.

A move to Italy would reunite the 26-year-old with De Boer, under whom he won the Dutch title in four successive seasons from 2011 until 2014.
