Leicester have signed the Belgian full-back from Serie A side Atalanta for a deal worth €24m after they allowed Ben Chilwell to join Chelsea for big money.

A right-back by trade, Castagne also has the ability to play in left-back and Brendan Rodgers is believed to be a fan of the full-back’s versatility, who shone in Italy at Atalanta.

A product of the Genk academy, the defender left the Belgian club to join Atalanta in 2017 and was part of an exciting side that pumped in 98 goals last season in Serie A.

De Conde, who watched Castagne develop at Genk, is confident that he will turn out to be a standout performer at Leicester in the coming years.

And he is certain that the big clubs in England, such as Arsenal and Manchester United, will come calling for him soon.

De Conte told Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad: “With Timothy, I know he will stand out at Leicester.

“He can become one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

“And then go to teams such as Arsenal or Manchester United.”

Castagne is also part of the Belgian national team and has earned seven international caps for the Red Devils.
