Xavi Hernandez wants to add a striker to his Barcelona squad in January and Cavani has emerged as their top target.

Manchester United are reportedly not against the idea of letting the veteran striker leave in January and Cavani is believed to be open to a move as well.

Barcelona have been in contact with the player’s representatives as they push to secure a deal to sign him next month.

And it has been claimed that the forward has been offered an 18-month contract to move to the Nou Camp in the winter transfer window.

Barcelona have offered to pay him a salary of €3.5m plus another €1m in add-ons until the end of the season.

In the last year of his proposed contract, the forward would earn €4.5m and another €1.5m in add-ons.

The Catalan giants are hopeful that their offer is good enough to convince the forward to move to Spain.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United are ready to let the striker go amidst the disruptions Covid has caused to their squad this week.
