The Welshman has been a fixture in midfield for the Potters since arriving from Liverpool in the summer for 2016.

Allen’s future at the bet356 Stadium is under the scanner as his current deal at the club is set to expire at the end of this season.

Having seen their bid to get back into the Premier League end this season, Stoke are now looking to finish this campaign on a high note and mount another promotion charge next season.

And the Potters see skipper Allen playing a key role in their plans next term and want him to stay at the club beyond this season.

Stoke want the 32-year-old to sign on fresh terms at the club and they are set to offer him a new contract.

Allen has played a part in 39 of Stoke’s 44 Championship games so far this season and boss Michael O’Neill has been  pleased with what he has seen from him on a regular basis on the pitch and in training.

In addition to Allen, a number of other senior players are also out of contract at Stoke at the end of this season, whose futures the club are currently looking to sort out.
