Davis spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Nottingham Forest and started the playoff final win against Huddersfield Town that guaranteed them a place in this year’s edition of the Premier League.
Aston Villa were prepared to sanction another loan exit this summer, with Steve Bruce’s West Brom showing keen interest, but Watford have emerged on top in the chase for the striker.
Davis is currently undergoing his medical with the Hornets and assuming there are no last-minute complications, the move is set to be completed today.
The 24-year-old made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Tricky Trees last season, scoring five goals and laying on three assists.
Davis is still highly rated by the Villans’ hierarchy but currently finds himself behind the likes of Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Cameron Archer in the pecking order at centre-forward.
Missing out on Davis will be a blow for West Brom, who will now have to find a way to stop the 24-year-old when they travel to Vicarage Road later in the Championship this season.
The Baggies began the season with two 1-1 draws, the latter of them coming against the Hornets at the Hawthorns on Monday.
Up next for West Brom is a trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday while Watford will play host to Burnley tonight.
