Ampadu’s future at Stamford Bridge is under the scanner as he is yet to make an appearance under Thomas Tuchel this season.
The Blues are in the market for new centre-backs and are working hard to get a deal over the line for Leicester City man Wesley Fofana but they have so far been holding off on taking a decision on Ampadu’s future with the Frenchman’s situation remaining unresolved.
Ampadu has attracted interest from a host of clubs in Italy, where he played on loan for Venezia last term.
Serie A sides Empoli, Sassuolo and Spezia are all keen on snapping up the Welshman in the ongoing window.
And according to Italian daily Il Secolo XIX, Spezia are set to win the race for the Chelsea man’s services as they have reached an agreement with the Londoners over a move for him on Monday, although in an unofficial capacity.
Ampadu is now closing in on a move back to Italy where he is set to play his trade for this season.
The 21-year-old has been playing for Chelsea’s development side in Premier League 2 this season but is now is likely to earn senior minutes in Italy.
