Antonio Conte is keen to continue to build the squad at Tottenham and is eyeing the mid-season window to inject more quality into the ranks in north London.

The Italian is keen to strengthen his defensive options, while he also feels the need for a creative option.

And Tottenham want to make sure they bring in a minimum of two players in the January transfer window.

The winter window is expected to be busier than usual across Europe due to the World Cup break giving clubs time to plan, while some players have suffered injuries at the tournament in Qatar.

Tottenham, who sit in fourth place in the Premier League, only have one more game before the new year, with a trip to Brentford on the agenda.

They then welcome in the new year by playing host to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It remains to be seen how quickly Tottenham will be able to add to their squad when the window swings open for business.
