The Potters snapped Gooch up from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee and he put pen to paper to a two-year contract at the Staffordshire club.

Gooch has taken the number 2 shirt at Stoke and insists he is hugely excited to have signed for Stoke.

The 27-year-old has vowed to give everything on the pitch to try to bring success to Stoke in the coming years.

Gooch wrote on social media: “A new journey begins. I am really excited to join Stoke City and I will give my all to help bring success to the football club!

“Up the Potters.”

Gooch helped Sunderland win promotion to the Championship in the 2021/22 campaign and then played his part last term as they reached the playoffs.

He will be looking to hit the ground running at Stoke as the Potters eye their own promotion push this season.
