Rangers lost the first Old Firm derby of the season on Sunday when they were handed a 1-0 defeat by Celtic at Ibrox.

It compounded Rangers’ problem following a week where they were hammered by PSV Eindhoven and failed to qualify for the group stage of this season’s Champions League.

The pressure is on Beale, who carried out an overhaul of the squad over the summer transfer window, and is now under scrutiny following a slow start to the season.

Rae admitted that there are question marks over Beale’s future at the club but stressed that the new signings have been letting the manager down with their performances at the start of the campaign.

The former Rangers star said post match on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “There are more questions for the Rangers manager and these players.

“These players are letting the manager down because they were all brought in for decent money in the summer and they are not performing at the level required.”

Rangers will be looking to get back into winning ways when they travel to St. Johnstone after the international break.
