Jurgen Klopp changed the entirety of the midfielder last summer as he brought in the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.

The Reds are sitting top of the Premier League table, but they have been tipped to once again look to add another midfielder next month and they retain an interest in Kone, who they considered in the summer.

Kone could be subject to interest in next month’s window, something of which Gladbach are well aware.

Die Fohlen’s sporting director Virkus is aware of the interest clubs have in Kone and he insisted that the club are not willing to let the 22-year-old go.

However, he indicated anything could happen, telling German daily Bild: “We constantly keep our eyes open and observe the market, that’s part of it.

“Our plan is not to give up Manu, but you always have to be prepared for anything.”

Now it remains to be seen if the Reds will go for Kone in January and how Gladbach might react.
