Bristol Rovers star Chris Martin has stated that he wants to stay with the Gas’ to show them his best form.

In September, the 35-year-old striker joined Bristol Rovers on a short-term contract that is set to expire on 26th January.

Martin has featured 15 times for Bristol Rovers so far this season, has scored six goals so far and on Friday his brace won the Gas’ three points against Charlton Athletic.

Gas’ star Martin stated that he wants to stay with Bristol Rovers and believes that he has not shown his best yet for Matt Taylor’s side.

Martin stated that he would like an opportunity to prove how good he can be and added that he is focused on doing his job on the pitch.

When asked whether he wants to extend his stay with the Gas’, Martin said to Bristol Rovers’ media: “Yes, I think so.

“From what I have seen so far, I feel like I have not even shown my best.

“I do not think I am 100 per cent fit still.

“I have not really played many 90-minutes since I have been here, obviously with having kind of no pre-season, so I really don’t think I have shown my best from when I have been here and I would like the opportunity to prove that and to show that.

“But I am not in charge of any of that, obviously above my head.

“That is a decision for the club and as a whole, the manager and the ownership group, but all you can do as a footballer is continue to try to do the business on the pitch.

“That is ultimately how you earn contracts and it is how you earn moves etc.”

Bristol Rovers are set to take on Wycombe Wanderers on New Year’s Day and Martin will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again against Matt Bloomfield’s side.
