Atalanta are only likely to consider selling Manchester United-linked defender Giorgio Scalvini for a crazy figure in the ongoing transfer window.

The 20-year-old centre-back has emerged as one of the top defensive talents in European football this season.

Despite his tender years, he is already one of the first names on the Atalanta team sheet and has already earned seven international caps for Italy.

Manchester United are amongst the big European sides who are interested in snaring him away from Atalanta in the near future.

But that is unlikely to happen this month as, according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, Atalanta have taken a clear stance on Scalvini’s future.

It has been claimed that the Bergamo outfit have no intention of selling the young defender in the winter window.

They are intent on holding on to the centre-back until at least the summer transfer window.

It has been suggested that only a crazy figure in the region of €60m would force Atalanta to reconsider their position.

For the moment, it seems unlikely that any team will fork out such sums for Scalvini in January.
