Birmingham City are set to face competition from clubs in Turkey and the US in their pursuit of Sunderland midfielder Alex Pritchard, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been an important part of the Sunderland squad this season but has entered the final six months of his contract at the Stadium of Light.

The winter transfer window is likely to be Sunderland’s last chance to get a fee from his departure and he is attracting serious interest.

Former Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray wants to reunite with Pritchard at Birmingham this month.

He is driving Birmingham’s interest in the midfielder but the Championship club are facing competition for his signature from clubs outside the UK.

Turkish outfit Sivasspor and MLS outfit Colorado Rapids are closely monitoring Pritchard’s situation.

They are prepared to make a move for him if the midfielder indicates that he would be open to a move.

Birmingham are hopeful that having Mowbray at the club could convince him to move to St. Andrew’s in January.
