Sheffield Wednesday have rejected Ipswich Town’s initial bid for Marvin Johnson but movement is expected on a new offer in the next 24 to 48 hours, according to talkSPORT.

The 33-year-old winger’s future at Wednesday has come under the scanner due to serious interest from promotion contenders Ipswich.

Kieran McKenna wants to add more experience to a squad that are chasing automatic promotion this season.

Ipswich tabled a bid worth £1m for Johnson but Sheffield Wednesday were quick to reject the offer from the Blues.

However, it has been claimed that the two clubs have continued to remain locked in talks over a potential transfer.

Wednesday consider the veteran winger an integral part of their squad and want the transfer fee to reflect that.

Ipswich have not gone away and are expected to put in a new and improved bid in the next 48 hours.

Johnson has continued to remain respectful towards the Owls but has the ambition to play at a higher level with an ambitious club.
