Birmingham City boss Tony Mowbray is set to make his first signing at the club in the shape of midfielder Andre Dozzell, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Mowbray is looking to strengthen the hand he was dealt when taking over at Blues and has time left in the winter transfer window to do so.

He is keen on Sunderland midfielder Alex Pritchard, but the player is now the subject of a bid from Turkey.

Mowbray is poised to soon make his first signing though and is raiding fellow Championship club QPR for Dozzell.

The midfielder is expected to complete a move to St Andrew’s on loan for the rest of the season.

His deal at QPR is due to run out at the end of the campaign.

Dozzell, 24, operates in central midfield and has made 25 appearances in the Championship for QPR this season, chipping in with two goals.

He came up against Birmingham in a 0-0 draw at St Andrew’s in September and clocked the full 90 minutes.
