Jamaal Lascelles would be happy to stay at Newcastle United despite interest from Turkish giants Besiktas, according to the Chronicle.

The 30-year-old defender has played more football this season due to injuries to Newcastle’s centre-backs but is not the first choice at St. James’ Park.

He has a contract until the end of the season but Eddie Howe has insisted that Lascelles has a future at Newcastle.

Besiktas are trying their luck to convince the defender to move to Turkey and they have reportedly tabled a bid for him.

The Turkish giants are waiting for Newcastle’s response but the defender would be happy to stay on Tyneside.

The Newcastle club captain is pleased with his role in the squad and would not be against staying at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle are yet to offer him a new deal and that situation is yet to be resolved by the club.

It remains to be seen whether Besiktas can change Lascelles’ mind and convince him to leave Newcastle
