Former Bristol City star Chris Honor feels that the Robins are looking like a very good team and believes that everyone is thinking that Liam Manning’s side might squeeze into fifth or sixth place.

Bristol City managed to end Southampton’s 22 match unbeaten streak on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Saints at Ashton Gate.

Under Manning’s guidance, Bristol City have climbed up to eleventh place in the league table and they are just four points away from the last playoff spot.

Honor thinks that the Robins are looking a like good side under Manning and added that if Bristol City are able to keep their momentum going with the addition of good performances, they can get into the playoffs.

The former Robins star also stated that their recent performances in the FA Cup have given them self belief and stressed that people are starting to believe that Bristol City might squeeze into fifth or sixth place at the end of the season.

“You have Ipswich slipping down the league back towards the likes of Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland and all those teams”, Honor said on BBC Radio Bristol.

“But there will be lots of other teams keeping their eyes on those final playoff places, but with a little bit of momentum Bristol City are building, some of the self-belief they are creating, if we can keep this run going and even these good performances, this was built on some really good cup performances against West Ham and Nottingham Forest, which gave us some self-belief in some of the league games.

“We are looking like a very good team and people have started looking at us and thinking they are the ones who are going to squeeze into fifth or sixth place like Luton did last year and Forest the year before; might be Bristol City’s turn this year.”

Bristol City will welcome relegation threatened Queens Park Rangers on Saturday to Ashton Gate at the weekend before they face Sheffield Wednesday on 24th February.
