Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty is keen to play in the Champions League with Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

Celtic are wasting no time in trying to use the funds they have received from the Scottish record sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton.

The Scottish champions are interested in getting their hands on Trusty and have tabled a bid worth £5m for the United States international.

Trusty started the 1-1 draw against Norwich City last weekend and Sheffield United do not want to lose the defender ahead of Friday’s deadline.

However, it has been claimed that the centre-back would be keen on the move to the Scottish champions in the coming days.

Trusty is keen to take up the opportunity of getting a chance to play in the Champions League with Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers wants to pair the defender with his international team-mate Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of the Celtic defence.

It remains to be seen whether Sheffield United agree to sell the player with just days left in the transfer window.
