Barcelona have made a move to rival Red Bull Salzburg for Liverpool midfield talent Stefan Bajcetic, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Bajcetic is down the pecking order of midfielders at Liverpool and the club could well sanction a loan exit for him soon.

Salzburg, where Pep Lijnders is in charge, have already been in with an offer to take Bajcetic to Austria on loan.

Now they have heavyweight competition as Barcelona have made a move for the midfielder.

The Catalan giants have offered to take Bajcetic on a loan deal for the season and are also prepared to pay Liverpool a loan fee of €4m.

There would be no option to buy contained in the loan.

Bajcetic is likely to be highly tempted by the idea of spending the season at Barcelona.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent time in the youth ranks at Celta Vigo before being snapped up by Liverpool in 2020, where he then made rapid progress.

He saw last term highly disrupted by injury, but returned towards the end of the campaign.
