Sunderland midfielder Pierre Ekwah is set to be at Saint-Etienne on Friday morning to complete a deadline move to the French club.

Ekwah is set to leave Sunderland on the final day of the transfer window following interest from Saint-Etienne.

The French second-tier side recently made a formal offer to sign the player and are now closing in on signing him.

It has been claimed that a verbal agreement is in place between the two clubs for Ekwah to move to Saint-Etienne.

According to French daily Le Parisien, the midfielder will be in Saint-Etienne on Friday morning to complete the formalities of the move.

Saint-Etienne have agreed on a deal to sign the midfielder on loan with an option to buy as part of the agreement.

Ekwah will be soon travelling to France and is expected to undergo a medical on Friday morning.

The two clubs are finalising the paperwork of the deal but a broad agreement is in place between Sunderland and Saint-Etienne.
