Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham is prepared to drop down to the Championship on deadline amidst interest from Sheffield United, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Welsh defender was a bit part player at Dean Court last season, making just six starts in the Premier League.

Mepham has not been involved at the start of the ongoing campaign and Bournemouth have been keen to move him on this summer.

His future remains unresolved on the final day of the transfer window but Sheffield United are interested in taking him to Bramall Lane.

It has been claimed that Mepham is ready to drop down to the Championship if needed.

He wants to play regular football this season and is prepared to play in the second tier of English football.

Sheffield United are pushing to secure a deal to sign the Wales defender in the coming hours from Bournemouth.

Chris Wilder wants to spend the money from Auston Trusty’s impending move to Celtic on getting Mepham.
