Cardiff City would need to pay significant compensation if they are to procure the services of Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones, according to the South London Press.

The Welsh giants have sacked Erol Bulut following a poor start to the season, which has seen them drop down to the bottom of the Championship table.

The search is now on to find a replacement with a number of names being linked with the post at the Bluebirds.

Among those is current Charlton Athletic manager Jones, who is overseeing the League One side’s surge this season.

Jones has just signed a new long-term contract with the Addicks and has been backed well in the transfer market by the board.

Charlton would not want to lose Jones to Cardiff.

And if Cardiff did come calling then a significant compensation package would be needed to lure Jones away from the Valley.

It therefore remains to be seen whether Cardiff do want Jones and are prepared to pay what would be needed.

Jones has experience of managing clubs such as Stoke City, Luton Town and Southampton.
