Barcelona’s midfield maestro Xavi has said he is sure coach Josep Guardiola will sign a new deal at the Camp Nou before his current one expires. The treble winning coach’s contract runs out in the summer and a host of European giants have been keeping tabs on the situation.

Xavi told the press however that, in his opinion, Guardiola will sign a new deal. "He is a crucial part of our team", said the midfielder, "and I think he’ll extend his contract."

The 29-year-old, who has spent his entire career at Barcelona, went on to say that he could not imagine life at the Camp Nou without the current coach, and also that Guardiola "performs his work with the same enthusiasm as on the first day [as coach]."
