Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini remained upbeat despite missing out on the chance to qualify for the Champions League next season. Although the slim loss to Tottenham Hotspur last night ensures the Blues will have to be content with Europa League football next year, the Italian tactician is convinced his side have enjoyed a successful campaign.
“I’m disappointed,” Mancini admitted on the club’s official website, “but I am also proud because of the job we have done and we have had a good season. We could have got the fourth position, we had the chances but football can be strange.”
Some fear that the former Inter Milan boss could now be in danger of losing his job after failing to secure fourth spot in the league. There are rumours that Man City will be attempting to lure Jose Mourinho back into English football in the summer, with promises of a massive budget to back up his needs.
