According to French regional daily Sud Ouest, Bordeaux star Yoann Gourcuff is considering a possible switch to Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon in the summer. The gifted midfielder is believed to be desperate to continue playing in the Champions League, and is interested in making the switch to Claude Puel’s side should they secure qualification into the tournament at the weekend.

Lyon need to win over relegated Le Mans on Saturday in order to solidify third spot in the league standings, and ensure a shot at qualifying for the Champions League group stages next season.

Should OL pull off the victory, negotiations to bring the 2008/09 Ligue 1 Player of the Year could start as early as a few days after. With Bordeaux’s unexpected free fall to sixth in the table late in the season, the 23-year-old French international is keen to jump ship in order to continue his development at the highest levels of competition.
