Manchester City are reported to have turned their attention to Ajax full back Gregory van der Wiel. The Premier League giants are believed to be growing sceptical about their chances of tempting Dani Alves from Barcelona in the summer, and Van der Wiel is the next name on their list.
The Ajax man is in demand and City would be sure to face opposition for his signature, most notably from AC Milan and Manchester United. Bayern Munich too have run the rule over the 23-year-old.
Van der Wiel has impressed at Ajax, with superb performances at right back, showing an aptitude for defending as well as being a vital attacking outlet for the Eredivisie club.
Ajax are preparing for the arrival of offers for the player in the summer and City would present an attractive proposition for a player who most feel has outgrown the Dutch top flight.
