AC Milan are believed to have joined the chase for Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago. The Rossoneri, desperate to inject some youth into an ageing midfield, are ready to pounce in the summer for the Argentine.

Gago has struggled to reassert himself at Los Blancos after returning from a long injury layoff. Indeed, the midfielder was the subject of much interest from Manchester City last summer and a deal was nearly done to take the player to Eastlands.

Jose Mourinho is unlikely to object to the sale of Gago, providing that Real can satisfy the Portuguese’s own transfer targets.

An arrival from Boca Juniors in 2007, Gago would surely be open to the prospect of a switch to AC Milan.
