Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez believes his side can win this season’s Champions League and take their next step towards doing so by knocking holders Inter out of the competition this evening.
The Germany international scored the only goal of the game in the first leg in Italy, giving Bayern a vital one-goal lead coming into the Allianz Arena match.
"We can win the Champions League", said Gomez at yesterday’s pre-match press conference.
"Tomorrow against Inter Milan we can take a further step towards this goal."
And Gomez believes Bayern must place increased emphasis on the Champions League as it is their only realistic chance of silverware this season.
"The Champions League is the only chance for a trophy we have and I do not see why we cannot win it. There are of course very good teams competing with FC Barcelona, the favourites, and four or five teams, including ours, that may claim final victory."
