Former Roma boss Claudio Ranieri has been linked with a return to management with Sampdoria.
Ranieri has been out of work since leaving Roma at the end of February, but is a concrete option to take over at Sampdoria in the summer.
Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone will replace current caretaker boss Alberto Cavasin at the end of the season and is thought to believe Ranieri could be the perfect appointment as he begins to rebuild the club.
Following a fourth-place finish last season, Sampdoria have struggled in the current campaign and sit a lowly 15th, with relegation not completely out of the question.
Big changes are needed at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and Ranieri could be the man to usher them in.
