Roma defender John Arne Riise has revealed that he would welcome a move back to former club Liverpool. The Norwegian left back played for the Anfield side from 2002 until 2008 and is thought to be ready to quit the Giallorossi this summer.

And a return to Liverpool, who are on the lookout for a solid left back to add to their squad, has been mooted in England.

"I am flattered by the fact that they are talking about a possible return to England", said Riise to Italian TV channel Sky Sport.

"Liverpool are always in my heart. They are a great club and I have wonderful memories. My contract with Roma will expire in 2012, so you never know."

Riise was a popular figure at Anfield, well known for his rasping shot and committed performances. Should the Reds move to bring the Norwegian back, it would be a transfer sure to be well received by the Kop faithful.
