Arsenal and Manchester United have been warned off Borussia Dortmund’s young talent Mario Gotze. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has been mooted as a target for both Premier League sides, with Sir Alex Ferguson especially known to be keen to take the German to Old Trafford.

But Dortmund have always maintained that Gotze is not for sale, even if the speculated €20M bids Arsenal and United are preparing have cast some doubt over whether the Ruhr club could really refuse such a substantial offer.

Now though chief executive Joachim Watzke has played down the chances of parting with Gotze even more, commenting there is little chance of the player leaving before the expiry of his contract in 2014.

"We don’t even think about selling Gotze before 2014, even for a billion euro offer", said the Dortmund chief.
