Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has declared his intention to remain with the Ruhr giants next season despite a lack of European football.
It has been suggested that Schalke’s lowly Bundesliga position could contribute towards the Dutchman being open to offers in the summer, with Fiorentina and Tottenham Hotspur thought to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old’s situation.
But Huntelaar has dismissed talk he could quit the Gelsenkirchen-based outfit.
"I will not leave because Schalke do not play in the Champions League", said Huntelaar to Bild.
"I feel part of this team in every respect."
It was with great disappointment that Huntelaar had to watch Schalke’s semi-final against Manchester United in the Champions League from the sidelines through a troublesome knee injury. And he will have to wait for his next taste of Europe’s top club competition due to Schalke’s miserable 2010/11 campaign.
